This reflection will be an introduction to the pedagogical benefits of incorporating video and video design in a classroom environment. I plan to base my second embedded assessment on how video can impact on teaching and learning. A link to this assessment can be found here. In this reflection, I will introduce the benefits of media in the classroom based on my experiences as a learner and introduces ways I could incorporate media into my teaching. The student in me.... During my tertiary education, I relied heavily on media to get me through my degree. As a distance education student, all lectures were delivered via zoom recordings and podcasts within CQU's Moodle. I also valued websites such as the Khan Academy of which I will base my example around. The Khan Academy truly practise what they preach and are renound for their extensive range of educational videos. These broadcasts can be found on their website or YouTube channel. Their testimonials speak for themselves. I too cannot praise the Kahn Academy enough, they were invaluable while I studied Paramedicine. By use of their online videos my learning was transformed. The teacher in me.... My research this week uncovered an endless list of advantages of using media in the classroom from a teachers perspective. To prioritise this list, I have imagined myself standing in front of a classroom using The Khan Academy to deliver my lesson. The benefits I value most are:

I love the idea of flipping the classroom. How teachers and students can be in a process of learning together. Students become active learners, not passive recipients of knowledge. This would be a nice space to be in!
